Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling 451 Cadenza vehicles for a defect that effects the rear power windows. The rear power windows can be operated by the driver’s power window main switch after the ignition has been turned off and a front door is opened.
The Problem
Documents released today by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that the drivers side power window switch continues to operate even when the ignition has been turned off and a front door is opened.
As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, “Power-Operated Window Systems.”
The Fix
Dealers will update the Driver Door Module software, free of charge.
