What causes to excessive battery drain, even when the car is turned off?

This is not an uncommon occurrence with Tesla. There are phantom loads that are ina the mould of background apps as found on mobile phones that continue to utilize the battery power even when the car has been turned off. Two typical examples of these are the climate control and entertainment features of the car. You can manually set them to be turned off when the car is off. Also, you might want to ensure that you are charging your battery properly as it is recommended.
One question that might also help us know more. Is the car battery experiencing slow charging or does is have a reduced battery range?
